Speaker Michael Maluchnik (1987-2016) had two great passions: cars and photography.
His family endows a photography seminar each year where middle school students are taught Four Skills on Framing a Good Photo:
- Leading the Eye with
- Lines
- Rule of Thirds
- Balance
- Simplicity
Typically, the seminar starts at 900am on a Spring morning when students are paired with a professional photographer or college film major. Car enthusiasts bring their classic automobiles and park them on the front lawn of the MPAC. After a morning of composing shots, the students review their photos on laptop computers and select their top 8 photographers (2 per skill). Selected photos are printed and displayed at the MPAC for an entire year.
